Wintershall Dea said Valerie Bosse has been appointed as the new managing director of the company’s Brazil business unit.

She will be responsible for all previous Wintershall and DEA activities in the country, of the two German companies that completed their merger in April to form Wintershall Dea, making it Europe's largest independent gas and oil company.

Bosse takes over from Gerhard Haase (Wintershall), who is retiring, and Christoph Schlichter (DEA), who is now in charge of integrating the recently acquired Sierra Oil & Gas in Mexico for Wintershall Dea.

Valerie Bosse has worked for Wintershall in various areas since 1989 and brings extensive E&P experience from various positions. She was responsible for exploration in Libya (2003-2007), the Netherlands (2007-2011), and led various exploration projects in Brazil, North Africa and the UK. Bosse had been vice president global exploration and New Ventures since 2011. In this function, she was responsible for Wintershall's global exploration activities.
