Sofec, a unit of Modec Group, has been awarded by joint venture partners TechnipFMC and JGC Corporation a contract to supply the turret mooring system for the floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) unit for Eni’s giant Coral South project off Mozambique.

The contract is for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a major internal turret mooring system for the FLNG facility, which will be designed to produce 3.4 MTPA of liquefied natural gas and will be moored in 2,000 meters of water depth in the Area 4, offshore Mozambique.

Rick Hall, Sofec’s CEO stated: “We are honored to be awarded this contract for the Coral FLNG Turret Moorings. This project will continue to allow SOFEC to showcase our unique capabilities in moorings and fluid transfer systems."

Sofec, will also assist in turret integration and offshore commissioning activities in Mozambique. Project delivery includes both the turret mooring systems (mooring legs, mechanical connectors and anchor piles) and fluid transfer systems (piping, swivels, safety and controls).
