ENGIE appointed Turki Al Shehri to be its new chief executive officer in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

Al Shehri will lead ENGIE’s efforts to grow its presence in the Kingdom and bolster its portfolio of investments, partnerships and customer solutions, as one of the leading French investors in Saudi Arabia, the company said.

Al Shehri previously held numerous strategic roles including the head of Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO) in the Ministry of Energy, and the head of Power Investment at Saudi Aramco.

As ENGIE’s KSA CEO, Al Shehri will work closely with the 3 businesses lines of power generation, water desalination, and energy services, in particular with ENGIE’s customer solutions entities in KSA including Engie Cofely, ENGIE Energy Services Saudi, Cofely AXIMA, ENDEL and Tractebel.

Al Shehri is a graduate from the University of South Florida holding a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.

Sébastien Arbola, CEO ENGIE Middle East, South & Central Asia and Turkey (MESCAT), said, “We are delighted to welcome Turki to the ENGIE group. His knowledge of the Saudi market is invaluable as we seek to invest further in the Kingdom. He is a passionate leader in the energy sector, and we are confident that he will greatly contribute towards our growth in Saudi Arabia.”

“I am delighted to join ENGIE and take on new challenges and opportunities to further grow our business in Saudi Arabia. I have watched ENGIE grow across the region to become the market leader it is today and am truly excited to be leading this team in Saudi Arabia as we continue to build a stronger portfolio in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030,” Al Shehri said.
