Saudi Arabia appoints Prince Abdulaziz as new energy minister

Saudi Arabia’s King has appointed his son Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as the new Minister of Energy, marking the first royal in the position, replacing Khalid Al-Falih.

The royal decree by King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, comes a few days after Al-Falih was also removed from his chairman post at Saudi Arabia.

He has been succeeded by Yasser Othman Al-Rumayyan, head of Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund (Public Investment Fund).

Additionally, Engineer Osama bin Abdulaziz Al-Zamil is appointed Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, replacing Engineer Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Ali Al-Abdulkarim, Deputy Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources for Industry Affairs.
