Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) plans to add new eight LNG, crude and petroleum tankers to its fleet by early 2021 as part of a modernisation drive to fulfil demand from Kuwait Petroleum Company.

New tankers ordered include three giant LNG tankers to be constructed by Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries Company (HHI) and the construction of four medium oil tankers by Hyundai Mipo Drydocks, the Kuwaiti company said according to Kuwait’s state news agency KUNA.

Additionally, one very large crude carrier will be built by China’s Bohai Shipbuilding and Heavy Industries.

The announcement came at the naming ceremony of KOTC’s two LPG carriers built by HHI; the first will be delivered by November and the second in January 2020.
