Canadian driller Ensign Energy has recently been awarded drilling rig contracts in the U.S, Canada and the Middle East.
The new drilling contracts in the U.S. are in the Permian basin of Texas and New Mexico. Ensign has been successful in contracting, with a major customer, an additional three ADR-1500 Super-Spec type rigs, each on 1-year term contracts. All three of these drilling rigs, plus the existing six rigs currently contracted to the same customer.
Ensign said that the drilling outlook in Canada has positively changed and the company has been awarded new 2-year contracts for three of its ADR-1500 HP Super-Spec drilling rigs.
In the Middle East, Ensign has been awarded in Bahrain two 3-year initial term contracts, each with two 1-year extensions. The drilling rig is owned through the TDI Joint Venture and another drilling rig will be mobilised in Bahrain from its present location in the UAE. Additionally, Ensign confirmed that it has completed the mobilisation inKuwait of two ADR-3400 HP Super-Spec drilling rigs, which are currently rigging up to commence performance of their 5-year contracts.
